Effect on Emotions
- It has definitely helped so much in my life. It has made me happier, it really has and being mindful has made me more grateful for the world around me. It has made me realize that we live in an amazing place, so I can't say enough about how much it has impacted me.
Thoughts on Breathing
- Breathing really helps me get centered and it relieves stress from my life, so when I feel like I have a million things that are discombobulated in my head, just taking a step back, working on my breathing, being present. This really relieves so much stress from my life and as a fitness guy I'm going to say that it will help decrease your cortical levels. You wanna keep your cortical down so having some type of stress relief practice in your life can really help with that and breathing is just one of those things.
Suggested Resources
- Book: Mindset Matters Most By Brian Grasow
- App: Evernote
Advice for Newbie
- Don't think that you have to do a million things to get benefits from it. Start with one simple practice, take timeouts during your day. If your stressed out at work just take a couple minutes every single day to get up and move around, take some deep breaths and you can build on things. If your starting with meditation, you might start with a simple hundred count breathing exercise and then expand on that as you become more comfortable with it but simply it at first. Build small incremental habits one step at a time and over the long haul you will see a ton of results.

Change your thoughts and let mindfulness help you do it. Dr. Wayne Dyer encourages you to do the same. He even wrote and entire book dedicated to this concept. It is based on the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu.
Quotes:
- If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
- How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.
- When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.
- “You must become the producer, director and actor in the unfolding story of your life.” — Wayne Dyer
- “Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.” — Wayne Dyer
- “There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there’s only scarcity of resolve to make it happen.” — Wayne Dyer
- “Passion is a feeling that tells you: this is the right thing to do. Nothing can stand in my way. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says. This feeling is so good that it cannot be ignored. I’m going to follow my bliss and act upon this glorious sensation of joy.” — Wayne Dyer
- “What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds.” — Wayne Dyer
- “The more you see yourself as what you’d like to become, and act as if what you want is already there, the more you’ll activate those dormant forces that will collaborate to transform your dream into your reality.” — Wayne Dyer
- “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.” — Wayne Dyer
- “Not only do you become what you think about, but the world also becomes what you think about. Those who think that the world is a dark place are blind to the light that might illuminate their lives. Those who see the light of the world view the dark spots as merely potential light.” — Wayne Dyer
- “If you believe it will work out , you’ll see opportunities. If you believe it won’t you will see obstacles.” — Wayne Dyer
- “Begin with the end in mind. Start with the end outcome and work backwards to make your dream possible.” — Wayne Dyer
- “A belief system is nothing more than a thought you’ve thought over and over again.” — Wayne Dyer

Effect on Emotions
- One hundred percent it has because it allows you to be calm and master your emotions because your emotions can result in some of the most erratic actions. It really helps you and for me to really think logical before I react out of emotion.
Thoughts on Breathing
- Breathing is a big part of it just because with anything, with breathing, air, oxygen that's what keeps you centered. That's me when I am practicing yoga but that what keeps you centered and that's what keeps your body centered. So even throughout both physically or mentally our most tedious points or experiences, breathing is always what will keep you centered.
Suggested Resources
- Book: Rafa by Rafael Nadal
Advice for Newbie
- The most important thing is momentum and what I mean by that is breaking it down to very very small steps. I once heard that habit is formed after three weeks. After practicing something for three weeks it becomes a habit so whether it's making sure you just drink two liters of water a day, just something as simple as that. If you are continually building on that and making that a habit and practicing it over and over again you are going to build momentum and then you're going to be able to take on something else. For mindfulness start small and build on it, gain momentum to move forward.

Effect on Emotions
- It has really just made me more present and it has made me just less dramatic of a person. I am not so stressed out about the future and regretting the past and thinks I now can't control. It has just made me more of a present, relaxed and calm individual.
Thoughts on Breathing
- When I meditate every day and I have that headband on that is measuring my brainwaves, when I am doing well it is because I am breathing deeply and really thoughtfully. When I am not I've noticed that my breathing really has shifted and I am not really focused on my deep breathing and more on my shallow breathing, so it's been a big impact.
Suggested Resources
- Book: The Way Of The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman
- App: calm.com
Advice for Newbie
- Start slow, a couple minutes a day, just sit down and be quiet, just breathe and just close your eyes so you can be present in the moment and focus on your breathing. Go to three minutes and then a couple weeks later go to four. Then maybe if you can invest in yourself or invest in an app or invest in something like this chose muse device that I use which is really powerful and just continue to grow slowly and surely.

Focus and mindfulness; people often ask me how they can improve their focus. Today, we talk about the importance of having a clear focus. Think about how increased focus could improve your life.
Quotes:
- "Life is like a camera, just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.”
- “People make their choices about where to focus based on their perception of what matters to leaders." Daniel Goleman
- "The successful warrior is the average man with laser-like focus." Bruce Lee
- "To me, living in the present means being aware of your conscious choice to focus on the past, present or future - it is not necessarily having to focus on the present." Bo Bennett

and focused, is formidable but the power of many working together is
better." Gloria Macapagal Arroyo

Effect on Emotions
- I have learned how to ignore the rest of the worlds judgement on emotion and pursue momentum. I think that for most of us people that think like you and I do have a hard time with happy, sad, frustrated, ticked off, pissed off, and confused, we don't know the difference. For me learning who I really was and getting a higher level of presence showed me that my life's motivation is to create momentum, forward motion and innovation not happiness. That's a bulls**t term that doesn't work for me.
Thoughts on Breathing
- I think there is four pillars to becoming a transformational leader, breathing, hydration, nutrition and movement. Most people would say I was crazy because I didn't name one thing about the functions of being a leader, but if you breathe, you hydrate, you're supported nutritionally and you move an appropriate amount, you will be the most present person in the room.

Advice for Newbie
- Get away from electronics as much as you can and don't turn a screen on in the morning until you have had at least an hour or two of time to become present and plan your day. Then understand your intention for the day and record were you uncomfortable yesterday, that will take you out of the constant reactivity most humans are in today.

Effect on Emotions
- It helps me deal with any worries, anxieties, fears, disappointments, any of that. It just kind of wipes it away.
Thoughts on Breathing
- Sometimes just taking a breath allows you too pivot and remind yourself where you're headed and just be okay with how things are, even if there not perfect in the moment.
Suggested Resources
- Book: The Art of Possibility by Benjamin Zander
- App: Journal Engine
Advice for Newbie
- I think that if you think about mindfulness and if you just wanna bring yourself back to the now and try to sort out some of the stuff that is bogging you down. Journaling is hands down the easiest, simplest, most powerful way to do that especially if you're not used to meditation if that's something hard or strange for you to do.

Nature and mindfulness; there are so many ways to connect with ourselves and each other through nature. Sometimes we forget how amazing we feel when we immerse ourselves in nature by taking a walk in the forest or walking by a body of water. Nature can heal. Nature can rejuvenate. Nature can repair. Do yourself a favour and determine to spend some time in nature this weekend.
Quotes:
- "See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence, we need silence to be able to touch souls.” Mother Theresa
- “Go into the wilderness. There you will find your own revelations.” Roxana Jones
- "Just feel the magic in the air and the power in the breeze,
Feel the energy of the plants, the bushes and the trees,
Let yourself be surrounded by nature at its best,
Calm yourself, focus and let magic do the rest." Sally Walker. - "Storms make trees take deeper roots." Dolly Parton
- "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished." - Lao Tzu
- "Bend with the wind. Be steady, be patient, Be open to wonder. Be connected." Anon
- "Walk As If You are Kissing The Earth." Thich Nhat Hanh
- "I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding." – John O-Donohue
- "Nature abhors a vacuum." Francois Rabelais
- "Just like natural Beauty, Peace and Love can grow just about anywhere." Anon.

Effect on Emotions
- It causes me to take a pause rather than just act. It's not just about getting things done for me anymore, it's about getting the right things done.
Thoughts on Breathing
- If I get really worked up I take ten deep breaths, which is a really good strategy for me to calm down. So paying attention to breath is an important thing but like I said earlier most of my focus when I'm in some sort of meditation I try to keep it on god.

Advice for Newbie
- I would say start with the "why" for sure. If you had all the money in the world and everything you're doing and money is not a factor anymore what do you do? What do you do with that time? and if you can get to that point it just opens doors for you because you start thinking consciously well do I really need the money to do these things.

Effect on Emotions
- Well it has helped me get in touch with them and helped me learn how to reprogram my habitual emotions when necessary.
Thoughts on Breathing
- I do deep breathing every day. I mean for me it's essential rather than just breathing, breathing I do deep breathing. Anytime I feel myself contracting about anything I just will take five to ten deep breathes. When I get into bed I take a number of deep breaths just to kind of let go of the day. I think that anytime you're under stress it is really important to do deep dire-forma tic breathing, not breathing from your upper chest but breathing from your abdomen.
Suggested Resources

Advice for Newbie
- Sit still for five minutes a day. One of the exercises I give to some of my clients is never go through a yellow light, in other words when you come up to a yellow light don't put your foot on the gas, stop which is really hard for type a people. So that to me is one of the exercises. The other one is to sit with your eyes closed for five minutes.
